It's super lightweight, and while it doesn't feel as premium as a GoPro or higher-end alternatives like the DJI Osmo Action, it does come with a protective case to give it added durability. If you're after something even cheaper, the AKASO V50X is a simple, lightweight action cam that offers decent value for its price. Still, this is a solid and well-built option for those on a tighter budget. Unfortunately, it's also limited to 4k at 30 fps and 1080p from 30 fps to 120 fps, giving you fewer frame rates to shoot different video styles. Its video stabilization feature is inconsistent but does a great job smoothing out camera shake, albeit with a severe 1.6x crop. However, it also comes with a protective case that renders it waterproof to an advertised depth of 131 feet for underwater recording. The camera itself has an IPX7 rating, so it's only waterproof to a depth of one meter for about 30 minutes. There are several mounting accessories included in the box, as well. It doesn't have as many frame rate options as the DJI Osmo Action and doesn't feel as well-built, but it's more affordable, and it still comes with a front-facing live view screen to help you monitor yourself as you record. If you want something a little cheaper, check out the AKASO Brave 7 LE. Though its since been superseded by the DJI Action 2 (which we've yet to test), the more conventional design and lower price point make the Osmo Action a great buy if you're looking for an alternative to the GoPro. While frame rate and resolution options are more limited compared to the newest action cams, it can still record 4k video up to 60 fps and 1080p up to 240 fps, giving you plenty of flexibility to shoot the kind of video you want, whether it's super slow-mo or smooth action footage. Like the similarly-priced GoPro HERO9 Black, it's got a second front-facing screen with Live View, so you can easily monitor yourself while recording. It's also waterproof to an advertised depth of 11m (36 ft) and has a built-in heatsink meant to help prevent overheating. It's one of the few GoPro competitors to rival the exceptional build quality of GoPro cameras, with sturdy construction that can withstand temperatures as low as -10☌ (14☏).
